In the past few years, the Baltimore City Police have been featured in a variety of TV shows including Homocide and The Wire. While these shows purport to portray life as it really is, not one single episode has shown the police at the Kinetic Sculpture Race. Each year, the police provide significant support to the race, with a police boat in the harbor and several vehicles that escort the race throughout the city to ensure that Kinetinauts have a lane to themselves.

Sometimes, the needs of the Kinetic Race rise beyond that of typical parades, and the officers on duty have always been extremely helpful. This race would simply be impossible without the Baltimore Police.

Sometimes, officers have difficulty maintaining a straight face working with us. That’s good—the whole point of Kinetics is having a good time.
